I was researching my lesson plan on World War II Women's Airforce Service Pilots and stumbled on two important ladies. Their names were Jacqueline "Jackie" Cochran and Nancy Harkness Love. It made me notice and some research revealed the RTD is a WWII history buff. I think he gave the WASPs a shout out by naming the character found in WWII London, Jack Harkness. These ladies were very important to the war effort and turning the tide in the war especially in Europe.
For the Star Trek buffs out there Cochran of Star Trek fame was supposedly a shout-out from Gene Roddenberry to the lady he flew with, the first lady to break the sound barrier in 1952, Jackie Cochran.
Okay, history nerd done now, off to bed.
