My take of the Season Finale of Doctor Who
The season finale of DW was seismic is scale, from Pete/Jackie silliness to the Cybersized Torchwood chick giving the Doc and co. some time to complete their plans.

Now let's talk about Rose and the Doctor, HOLLY CRAP!!!!! In all the 28 seasons of DW I have never heard such anguish from the Doctor. I still can't get DT's screams out of my head. The look between the Doctor and Rose when Pete (Go Dad!!) caught her was heart breaking. Now that is what I call a "Hail Mary" catch.

Later, on the beach when the Doctor and Rose are saying their final goodbyes (he harnessed the power of a Supernova for that transmission) the love between the Doctor and Rose was made cannon. She had the gumption to state her feelings for him and he stated it back, even if he was cut off. A man/alien like him doesn't cry like that if they don't love the other person. Got a kick out of the verbal exchange when he thought she was preggers instead of Jackie it was very plain he was okay with the idea. Which made me think they have been "dancing," since at least "The Idiot's Lantern," and didn't mind if that was the situation.

I am miffed that we did not see when Rose remembered her deeds as Bad Wolf. Now that might have kicked the more intimate aspect of their relationship off, also. I mean she remembered he gave his "life" for her, what more of a declaration of love can a girl get from her guy.

Catherine Tate's appearance at the end of the episode was an absolutely necessary comic relief moment. I was laughing through the tears at the ridiculous look on DT's face and his inability to say anything other than "What."

All in all it was a great season/series finale. Bring on "The Runaway Bride" as I am curious about what is going on.

I love that he went to such lengths to say goodbye. I know that he loved Rose. But I also wonder if he went to so much trouble because of running into Sarah Jane and seeing how hard it was on her not having that goodbye.

(I wandered over here from time_and_chips)

Thank you for replying and I did not even think of Sara Jane. It would fit within his character, though.

I really liked that too, for many reasons. It was very human. (In contrast to some aspects we see where the Doctor seems more alien.)

I mean she remembered he gave his "life" for her, what more of a declaration of love can a girl get from her guy.

And remember that she told the Doctor (in "The Empty Child") that saving her life was one of the best things for boyfriend-potential.

Bring on "The Runaway Bride"

It can't come too soon.

I did forget that, it would fit within what has developed over the course of the second season.

Like how RTD writes so that the scenes can be read many different ways depending on the viewers point-of-view.

It's one of his strengths, and he has many of them. He has such control of his material - the more I look at it the more I see that, and the more I seen that, the more I admire it.

Doomsday was utterly, utterly shattering. It's taken me a week to recover!

So...what *is* the secret of linking a livejournal entry to a community? I haven't been able to figure it out; hardening of the cerebral arteries, I'm sure!

I know it took me a couple of days to even write this. Still trying to figure out linking, hope to get it soon.

See I read it the other way. That he was shocked and not wanting her to be. We know ther has been no shagging because RTD et al tell us so and it's only finally they get round to admitting how they feel about each other.

So I read his emotion as 'I'm burning up a sun to say goodbye to you, you're alive and I can't share your life, I love you, I've been searching and searching for one last crack in the void so I can see you one last time and..... you're pregnant....by someone else"!!!

His "you're not?" sounded heartbroken to me. He sort of releases the breath he was holding in relief when she says no. Well thats how I saw it anyway.

I re-watched it and can see it that way also. I am a romantic at heart and was watching it through rose colored glasses, oi! bad pun alert!

I love the fact that we all come from different viewpoints on the same scene. It never ceases to amaze me.

See You in Time
