Well, all right, I suppose I
can.Last night was Second Thanksgiving, for people who could not make it on Thursday. There were two types of lasagna (roasted veggie and pumpkin + turkey sausage) and butternut squash pasta, as well as various leftovers from Turkey Day itself, and caramelized pears and fruit pizza for dessert. I have continued to be banned from the kitchen, since my voice is better but the cough continues to linger, but
twitchylizard is more than making up for it. For some reason, she is the only person my mother listens to when she says, "Donna, that is too much food." If anyone else says this, they get their heads snapped off, but Liz gets away with it.
Work yesterday was fuuuuuun, btw, especially since I accidentally took Nyquil instead of the intended Dayquil before going. Whoops. Fortunately I didn't really need my brain. We had maybe five kids all day.
Today we get our Christmas tree. Liz, being Jewish, has never experienced this particular cultural event and had not quite realized that it involves going to get a tree and bringing it back to the house. She said, "That sounds like a hassle," and I said, "It is." Which is why my parents are going to do that part of it (along with the arguing over which tree to get and whether they really need all the boxes of ornaments in storage) while we run some errands. I need to spend some time trying to get the final book review kick-started. I'm really close to being done with everything I said I needed to finish before I could start writing again. I probably
could start writing again, actually, but it's good incentive to just keep pushing through.
